Current Project in the Works:
Victor Pearsol Memorial Boat Launch
Battlefords Wildlife Federation is teaming up with the Village of Cochin, Lost Horse Creek and Fisheries Enhancement Agreement (FWDF) in improving the Murray Lake Boat Launch in memory of Victor Pearsol.
Our plans include expanding the parking lot and staging area and leveling, building a second dock and boardwalk along the water that would be wheel chair asseccible, a Cairn in memory of Victor Pearsol, and adding lighting and picnic area.
A little history of why we are doing this in Victor Pearsol's memory: The area of the current boat launch was the land of Vic Pearsol and he had donated it to become a boat launch for the public to use. Vic Pearol had passed away about a year ago and left the Battlefords Wildlife Federation a memorial fund. After months of deciding what to do in honor of Victor Pearsol, the Battlefords Wildlife Federtaion decided to improve and inhance the local lake's boat launch on the land that Victor Pearsol owned.
We would also appreciate the public for being patient with us and our volunteers, while we are currently revamping the area.
We would appreciate any help, as this project is done all on volunteer base to inhance this area to be of better use for our fellow and future fishermen/women. Please check our calender for work bee schedule in the future or contact Battlefords Wildlife Federation.
The 2013 Big Game Draw application process has been delayed, but will take place between May 13 and June 12.
This additional time will allow hunters the opportunity to register on the new Hu...nting, Trapping and Angling License (HAL) system and otain identification HAL ID number.
Hunters will need to apply online using exactly the same information as in previous years: however, they will also need to provide their HAL ID number. The application process will require all individuals on an application to have their own HAL ID number and their Saskatchewan Hospitalization Service Card number. Without this, hunters' applications cannot be processed.
Registrating for a HAL ID number is a one-time requirement. Anyone who has already purchased a 2013 angling or spring bear license will already have their HAL ID number.
If a hunter does not have a HAL ID there are two ways it can be obtained:
1. Online at your convenience at www.gov.sk.ca/huntingandfishing
2. Through private issuers, Ministry offices and select Park offices
3. By phone at 1-888-848-4773
Draw results will be available in early July.
